Spot on and why there is no point in buying car magazines to get a warts and all review of a new car.

I doubt Ferrari will care.

Press fleet cars have been full of tweaks for years - maybe I should start a thread that the (other?) incognito journos can contribute to. I don't see what his problem is all of a sudden though.

Interesting that he's pissed off to the point of flogging his own car and writing that though. I really hope the likes of McLaren with their new car don't pull this st when production cars are fully available.

Interesting that he says others such as Audi and Lamborghini don't behave this way.

I don't believe anyone is naive enough to believe that press cars aren't whistled on a bit and I guess that's to be expected, to a degree. I think there's an almost sinister undercurrent in Harris's article, which makes it sound like Ferrari are going 'beyond creepy' in wanting the automotive scrawl-monkeys to write the correct things.

Maybe it's an Italian thing?

Oh wait, no it's a Skoda thing. A Ford thing. A Vauxhall thing. A Mini thing. A Peugeot thing.

I'll stop there as I'm starting to sound like the Chumbawamba song.

Good effort.

It's been like that for years. I remember when the 996 Turbo beat the 360 In Autocar Ferrari went mad as Autocar were using an owners "high mileage" 360. It had under 20k on it and was pretty much fresh

Think that may have taken Chris off the Ferrari Christmas card list!

Good on him I say.

Someone at Autocar should look at the 0-100-0 thing from a few years ago where the Alfa 156 GTA did well...

So far this evening:
  • Chris Harris joins PH (as far as I can tell). Talks a bit about McLaren's new car.
  • Chris Harris falls out publically with Ferrari.
Prediction:
Chris Harris ends up doing PR for McLaren.

(said in jest, but I'd love that job..)

I think they will care, Jalopnik.com is in the top 3 biggest car sites in the world, and this is their lead story on the frontpage.

Plus that was a great rant. It's not unusual to expect that press cars are very healthy, but Ferrari take the piss. BMW's press M3's are demonstrably faster than customer M3s, but not by much in comparisons I've seen.
