I used my car tonight for the first time in a couple of months, but the rear parking sensors are not working, when you select reverse there is a higher pitch tone for about 10secs then nothing, any help welcome, Tame Tech sounds like a post for you?? Thanks in advance for any help.

Dead parking sensor, diagnostics will tell you which one and IIRC they're about 70 quid a piece.

No need on parking sensors if theyre faulty all the time. Put your ear to the sensors (when in reverse and ignition switched on) and they should all have a high pitch squeel noise if you listen carefully, the faulty one wont. If your hearings not upto scratch lightly touch the sensors and you can feel them vibrate if working correctly.

This doesn't always work. You can still get the tick/vibration from a faulty sensor. Diagnotstic is the only way to confirm for sure which is faulty.

When mine had a faulty sensor the diagnostics were also hit and miss. There are 4 sensors and it took the dealer 3 goes to replace the right one! As a result they also had to repaint the rear bumper as I revered into a low planter that I couldn't see but had they fixed the senors the car would have seen it!
