Audi A4 Remote Key Programming
Discussion
I've just found my spare remote key isn't unlocking the doors remotely on my B7 Audi A4. It has previously worked - about a year ago.
The red LED illuminates when a button is pressed, so I'm assuming the battery is ok. Is it possible it could lose it's memory?
Does anyone know the procedure for reprogramming? And not the 'Visit dealer, grease up, bend over' method!

I vaguely remember something about having the ignition on with the key which does work the remote, then having the other key in the door lock and turning/holding the unlock/lock button for a couple of seconds. Not sure of the exact process though.
Cheers. Will give this a whirl in the morning.Found this on the tinterweb....
1. Switch ignition ON and leave the key to be resynchronised in the ignition.
2. Physically lock the vehicle using a second key in the driver's door lock. If you only have 1 key, lock the car from inside.
3. Using the remote control press the unlock button once, and the horn will sound once.
4. Wait for 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate the coding procedure. The remote control will now be programmed.
The horn didn't sound, but the spare key now works remotely....job done
