Hi

Found this on Ebay and looking to find out what exactly it means, then found this forum.

Spoke to the owner he says that the crank needs regrinding...there appears to be a lot of knowledge in here..what cost am I looking at and are the parts available? Who should I talk to?

Colin you appear to have an engine would you send me details, mileage, work required and cost.

Thanks to anyone that helps me... love the car to bits..but need to be sensible.

What What do you all think its worth?

Thanks all

Matthew

Bell Hill Garage www.bellhillgarage.co.uk/ have got a stripped Cerb V8 engine in stock (and loads of other TVR bits), I wish I was brave enough but we've got a 3 month old baby and the wife is talking more in terms of a new Zafira or Scenic rather than a TVR project. One day...

I have just had a full factory AJP rebuild, & have just got the parts list/ price from engine build, the parts alone come to £9344- just the parts!!!!

(i hasten to add that i did not pay anywhere near this amount - thank F**k.)

What about fitting a small block chevy? - cheap & plentiful.

Otherwise steer clear, you could spend £10k putting it right. 18K buys you a nice sorted cerb, without taking on a project.

Also, i'm led to believe( by the factory) that only they can rebuild the v8 & they often don't have the parts for their own rebuilds!

Sorry to sound negative, but bargain cerbs are like good estate agents, a myth.

Yeah, I was thinking along similar yank V8 lines, what about that new 'crate' Ford V8 that Mosler etc use, $9k a time I think I read, and with exchange rates the way they are a good buy. Or how about a Rover V8, very cheap and easy to tune up. Or just put the Cerb in your living room as a work of art?

Sorry to spoil the party but the ford mustang engine that mosler etc use will be too wide for the chassis. If you look at how compact the AJPV8 is you will see what I mean.

If sombody is looking at this for a project I would stick with the ajpV8 and either get the engine in the car fixed or get another one.

It's not very cheap any more, already up to £9,999, not worth that IMO
