PH Carpool: Sharing The Love

Have you got a car that PHers want to read about? Don't keep it to yourself...

We want you...
We want you...
This is so obvious, it's amazing we haven't got around to it before. That's lethargy and a lack of imagination for you.

But something has stirred here at PH Towers, and it's not Garlick's 3rd cup of tea of the morning. Nope, it's our latest big idea and, just like Dave 'the kid' Cameron's big society, it's only going to work if you get involved.

Well not all of you obviously, because with 3.5 million (plus) 'unique users' visiting PistonHeads every month we'd be a bit pushed to cope between tea breaks. (You'll be pleased to hear we're cracking through those Sunday Service biccies.)

We want you...
We want you...
Instead the soon-to-be-inaugurated PH Carpool is inviting applications for membership from PHers who a) have got something in the garage that fellow PHers would love to read about, and b) who want to share the joys and/or woes of ownership with the rest of us.

It's easy to participate. You send an e-mail to carpool@pistonheads.com, with your car described in the subject line as 'Make/Model/Year' (e.g. Vauxhall/Nova 1.2/1991 - carefully choosing the other car in your garage, obviously) and a sentence or two of text describing your pride and joy.

The idea is that we accumulate a pool of PHers into which we can dip our editorial quill, and from which will flow a plentiful spring of homepage articles ranging from one-off profiles to serialised running reports - a bit like the PH Fleet Update articles we do already. The best bit? If we like what you're offering, we might even write your story for you...

We want you...
We want you...
So there you have it - the all-new PH Carpool. One small step for an ordinary motoring website, and a great big leap in the dark for us. If only all Wednesday mornings could be this exciting!

What is a candidate for the PH Carpool?

Interesting, fast, thirsty, and prestigious 'proper' machinery, mainly. Or to put it another way - hyper cars, super cars, sports cars, GT cars, racing cars, luxury cars, track cars, and even some of those TVR cars.

...as our new recruit!
...as our new recruit!
Oh, and we'd like to see some classics, and perhaps a novelty or two. Come to think of it, if you've got a 'bike, boat or 'plane that's out of the ordinary we might not rule you out, either. This is the PH Carpool after all, so do you really have to ask?

N.B. Vauxhall Novas will be instantly rejected, unless yours happened to win the Lombard RAC, or something...

What are you waiting for?

But not you.
But not you.

And here was me thinking this would be a way of PH's saving cash and giving each other lift's to work if they were along other PH's routes!

Are you really not going to discount motorcycles? Ultimately my car isn't that interesting, but I've got four arguably interesting motorcycles...

Or maybe thats just the biker-nerd in me!

Well I have offered my two but to be honest I dunno if any of you are interested in my stock of a Vauxhall and a Renault albeit the Vauxhall is a supercharged VX220 and the Renault an ex-works Coupe Cup race car.

Don't know if my March Cabriolet would qualify? Certainly was interesting, and a giggle to own, just not quite PH material!

Noooooo. They'll all love a write up on a Yank biggrin

I might do one for my truck if you don't get flamed too much. It's interesting, fast & thirsty, so could qualify.

All of a sudden i realise how boring and reliable my 53 MR2 and wife's 06 S2000 are. Which was why i bought them, not many printable stories, just 'racing' incidents, and have happily zoomed past lots of broken down interesting cars in the past, apologies, smug b4stard.

Ps i do like the idea though because i am one of those people who reads owners reviews of cars like TVRs, Alfas, Integrales etc that i am too cautious to buy, the problem i have is i'm often away for a weekend and when i'm on my way home i normally have such a horrific hangover i have to get home...

PPs The pictures of disected V12 jag engines people posted on SOTW three weeks ago really freaked me out, i don't know where people get their composure (or time!)

Well, that's me out. Unless people want to hear about the joys of having the lower engine crank replaced in a 2006 diesel Punto, of course laugh
