Hi everyone - this is my first post as I've just bought a 2005 997 911S. I'm told you guys are the friendly people to ask any queries

I have come from a 2008 Audi S3 and the PCM system is, frankly, from 2005... not 2008 or later! Accordingly, there is no Ipod connection and I need to strip down my blackberry to put the sim in the slot. Not ideal, as i can't email from it without a sim.

I understand that there are after market systems which integrate with PCM and do not affect the aesthetics of the interior. I have zero interest in a Parrot as they look sh!t, but someone mentioned to me a maker called mObridge who apparently do some slick systems for various car makers?

I have no idea what they cost and I have absolutely no technical ability, so I would appreciate any help ref; installation companies too - I live in West London.

Hopefully you guys can assist... Cheers, Dan

Hi,

Google mObridge, Dension, and Tooki.

I have the mObridge. I've been having problems with mine, but others on here have had a better experience. If I did it again Dension would be my choice.

Cheers

Dan, first question is do you have OPC warranty? If yes, there is nothing you can do if you want to keep it, unfortunately?

If not, there are a couple of options available that a few people on here can advise on.

I use a PAYG sim in mine and a Griffin FM transmitter for the iPod.

No warranty to worry about... I'm happy with an aux output for ipod use, but would want the phone to work well as i need it for work. Would/should this have any sway on what to do?

I've got a mObridge and continue to have problems almost daily. What are your issues?

I would go further than that. It's seriously antiquated compared to some of the aftermarket kit available. I fitted a Pioneer head unit to my 2005 Boxster 3 years ago and every one was blown away with how well it functioned and suited the car. I was careful not to make it look like a Halfords add-on and the end result was extremely satisfying. The PCM does its job but it was left behind years ago.

I use a Dension GW500 and find it superb. Easy to fit and after several software upgrades, performs like a dream.

On calls people are always complaining they can't hear me. I've had the mic changed once already. On the iPod side of things it doesn't resume playback when I return to the car. The time indicator flashes '00:00'. I have to toggle between radio and CD changer to get it to start playing again. I've had the software updated and bought another iPod and it doesn't solve the problem.

Seems like a mixed bag of feedback on these systems.

I don't strictly need the IPOD to be able to sync with the PCM - I am happy with an AUX option. Would that change matters?

On these systems, can you call from the handset and will it pick up on the system, or do you always have to use the PCM to dial out? I'm worried about this as i have about 3000 contacts on my BB and if the PCM only shows 150 numbers, it could be an issue. If i can dial straight out using my phone handset and the bluetooth picks it up, its a none issue.

Also, any idea how much they cost and who is best in my region (london area) to fit? Someone said to me to use JZ Machtech, up in Herts?

Thanks for all your help so far guys - really, really helpful...
