Lexus LF-Gh Concept Points To Next GS

New York concept previews new 5-series rival

This is the Lexus LF-Gh hybrid concept, due to be unveiled in the metal at the New York motor show next week.

But although billed as a concept, the so-called Lexus Future Grand Touring Hybrid is actually the strongest hint yet at the new E60 BMW 5-series, sorry, Lexus GS.

Joking aside, however, The LF-Gh does indicate how the next GS, with its latest iteration of Lexus's 'L-Finesse' design language, will look when the new car arrives later this year

The most striking design feature of the LF-Gh is the dramatic nose with its aggressive grille and chunky front bumper. Complex tail-lights and sharp side skirts complete the Lexus look, but even so the rear three quarters is deeply reminiscent of BMW.

The LF-Gh is also longer, taller and wider than the current GS, with a more distinctly three-box profile. Beyond this, technical details of the new car are sketchy, other than the fact that it is a petrol-electric hybrid, so we can expect an updated version of the V6 from the current GS450h. We'll know more next week.

Audi-esque grille treatment, and damn near identical BMW 5 series cues elsewhere, I think it does a greta job of looking better than either. Sharp and restrained, there seems to be no additional and unneccsary surface creases that blight the Germans these days... good job Lex.

The front end doesn't sit right with the rest of the car.

Ugly as sin up front. The rest is pretty if a little BMW, as has already been stated.

Wow that looks gorgouse. from the rear similar to the bmw 5 series but that front end is nice! unfortunately though even though i love Lexus they have a tendancy of making them a bit slower than there rivals. i hope it looks like this in production!! Well done Lexus!! clap

I like the look of that. I agree it looks like other brands from certain angles, but what doesn't?

Like it. As said, a bit like a 5 ran into an Audi, but I like the grille. Who were the first to start doing this geatee-beard thing, anyway. Mitsubishi?

Don't like any of the new massive grills..I think they will date the cars badly...GTR, AUDI RSx, EVO X etc

Finally after all these years there is a decent looking Lexus GS that doesnt look boring or as generic as its Toyota counterparts.

Looks very "Fast and Furious" with all the neon lighting.

love the front grill, but it's a bit too square.

Looks like an old shape Honda Accord that's been involved in a front end impact.

I didn't see that comparison coming at all! 5-Series yes, but a Honda?

I really love this

I think it does look a little 5 series at the back (not a bad thing)

If you actually look at the front (on the side profile pic) you can see the latest IS200 there.

I hope Lexus don't start going with the Russian Doll thing like Audi (YAWNNNN)

I think Lexus is going somewhere with this.

I would also like to see a 3door and 2door CT200h
Someone on a Lexus forum photshopped a 3 door and wow it looks good.

Heres ze link biggrin

Uggghh. Horrible, can't stand the rear door window line or the front end. Once the front vents are toned down for production and a number plate is put on, I can't see it remaining striking, or ever good looking.

(I drive a Lexus too!)
