msn messenger , messages from random porno links?

i keep getting a message pop up from some random name thats not a contact , to the likes of " im a hot babe click here to see pics"

i run ccleaner , avira, malwarebites and superantispyware but the messages still pop up

any ideas how to get rid

Yeah, stop giving them your email address. The life time subscription offers they promise are always a scam.

Isn't there an option somewhere to only allow friends to send you messages? Pretty sure there is, though it's been a very long time since I've used MSN.

This. Stupidly they leave it open by default.

just had a look and cant find it

Go to Tools then Options, and on the Privacy tab press the Edit Settings button.

This will then take you to a page where you can select Public, Limited or Private. Click Private then Save and that should be you sorted.
