Quickest way to get a replacement V5?...
Discussion
Hi Chaps,
I SORNed the Maser last winter because I wasn't in the country, have just gone to tax it, and can't find the V5 anywhere....
Have also decided to change it for something new, so really need to get a replacement V5 ASAP so that I can get my hands on a new toy.
In the past, I've been up to the local DVLA office, where they can do cherished transfers over the counter, rather than the normal 4-6 week malarky, does anybody know if it's possible to get a V5 from them in the same way?
I would call, but the DVLA 'phone system is a creature of terror!

99% certain you have to apply for it.I SORNed the Maser last winter because I wasn't in the country, have just gone to tax it, and can't find the V5 anywhere....

Well, did some digging, and found out that applying by phone would receive the doc in a handful of days, applying by post may take weeks.
Went through the phone system with some trepidation, but the very helpful chap who I finally got through to processed it within about a minute, relieved me of £25, and told me it should be on the doorstep within 3-5 days. I'm off until Monday anyway, so it should be waiting for me when I get home.
Not worth the 1 1/2 hour round trip to the local office after all, I'll save that journey for the reg transfer!
