Thinking of changing the colour on my bike, its perfect apart from the colour. I dont want to paint it as I want to be able to put it back to standard should I decide to sell it.

Anyone had their bike vinyl wrapped? Please with the results?

Any company recommendations in the south west/M25/M3/M40 area?

DIY, cheap and pretty darn easy to do. wink
Watch a few youtube vids, have a bit of a think about how you will approach it and have a go.

Wrapping is not a DIY thing unless you want it to look like a DIY job, many wrap films out there and the best is Avery 1005, the rest mainly look ok short term only then they lift out.

Yep - I wrapped a Derbi GPR a couple of years ago.

Before:

After:

Results were fantastic.
You could DIY it after a lot of practice, but all those nooks and crannies need to be individually 'wrapped' before doing the larger sections.
It is very hard work and definently not easy job, especially on a bike. Cars are a lot easier.

The only downsides are that vinyl is not as shiny as paint, it does have a kind of orange peel reflection to it. The good thing is that it's easy to repair of course.

Whilst I'd agree with the comment about using quality materials, having wrapped all manner of things and shapes, I still maintain that with a bit of prep and thought/planning, anyone with a goodly ammount of common sense and coordination can make a good job of it.

Then again, I'm one of those people who approach the vast majority of new things with "If someone else can do it, there's no reason I can't do it either".

Of course there is the exception! Wrap courses are 2 days assuming you have plenty of experience already working with self adhesive film. They did some wrapping on wheeler dealers and the mechanic had a go and illustrated perfectly why not just anyone can do it, the material is expensive so it's worth not ruining it, you can take the gamble and pull it off, but you'd be one of the lucky ones.

We wrap too, we use the same wrap film Avery 1005 for printed wraps as TD do but we haven't done any Bentleys with foils with a fade print over the top as TD have, they are more experienced than we are, we all start somewhere but we have done carbon wraps, roof, mirrors, all of it etc, some nice coloured carbons out too, silver, white, gold, matt films, colour changes, digital prints with the advantage of being able to protect all that with paint protection film, that's the problem with wraps is that film has to be so thin to wrap that it is easily penetrated by stone chips and it isn't cheap, current ppf stock is VS and soon stock of a new brand.

I know of a vinyl wrap business in Bristol who have wrapped cars for a couple of Bristol City footballers and a porn star recently. I saw them wrapping some Range Rovers and an Audi A5 – seemed like they were doing a good job.

As I know the brother of the owner of the business, I could probably get a discount.
