Nissan GT-R Fire Engine

World's fastest fire engine enters service at the Nurburgring

It might not be the world's fastest production car around the Nurburgring, but it's pretty close - and with its roomy and practical boot, what better choice of vehicle could there be for the circuit's rapid response team than the Nissan GT-R?

As these pictures from nissansportz show, a thorough conversion has been carried out to make the GT-R suitable for 'Ring duty, including the installation of a full roll cage and Recaro racing seats. The rear seat has also been removed a la the latest Spec V version, but in this case it's not to save weight but to make room for a dirty great tank of fire retarding foam and a hose reel.

That makes it a proper fire engine in our book, although we can't help thinking a bright red paint job would be the proper finishing touch. And maybe a set of ladders on the roof?

On a serious note, we don't know how fast this new emergency vehicle will lap the notorious Green Hell, but if it's anything close to the standard production model's 7:26.7 this mean, grey, fire-fighting machine will be a real asset in the battle to improve safety at the 'Ring.
