Photographers love Le Mans for many reasons, and this picture explores several of them. It's a super-evocative image of a fabulous LMP1 car at night for starters, and not just any old car at that, but the Beechdean Mansell Ginetta-Zytek as the speed-blurred reflective PistonHeads Smiley on the rear wing shows.
While for many PHers this image will represent motorsport art at its finest, we can't help thinking that some racegoers befuddled by alcohol late on Saturday night may be drawn to it for other reasons. You know sometimes at Le Mans, everything can seem like a bit of a blur... or is that just me?
Since Chris-R is off in France and unable to do anything about it, Garlick and I are hijacking POTW to share our favourite Le Mans photo as well. Whilst Chris's choice is lovely and artistic, we prefered this classic shot of the car heading under the Dunlop bridge in the evening sunshine. Which ever you prefer, we hope you have a great weekend, whether you will be trackside in France or following the race stuck at home like us - Mr Will
Thanks to Jeff Bloxham who captured these wonderful images for LAT Photographic.
