It's back and it's better - the Clio V6 will hit the streets once again. The new model uses the updated bodystyle as the base for a range of improvements both visually and technically.
A revised top end gives the mid-mounted V6 a useful 255bhp and will rev to 7,200rpm. A flatter torque curve makes the unit more friendly. The six speed gearbox has had extensive development work on it, to achieve short throws with very distinct stops.
The suspension has been completely revised to give a harder and stiffer ride. The whole rear subframe was redesigned to cope with greater lateral forces on the rear wheels. As a result the wheels are 15mm further back than on the previous model (the wheelbase has been extended by 23mm in total). New Michelin Pilot Sport tyres handle the grip requirements. The front suspension hasn't been neglected though with a thicker anti-roll bar and a 33mm wider track.
In total 1,630 of the first generation V6 were built. The new model is being built in Dieppe at the Alpine factory.
Orders were first taken for the new Clio V6 at the Geneva Motor Show (€39,700 including VAT) and the car is available in three colours: Titanium Grey, Iliade Blue and Mars Red. A range of option packs will also be available.
