There have been many fuel saving devices marketed in recent years and all have made wild claims. Be it magnetic fields, magic potions or eating cheese before you go to bed, none have made a lasting impression on the industry as a whole.
One wacky idea that has emerged from the past is now being marketed as the 'Eco Fuel'. Grant Benton from Dorset is an electronics engineer and first heard about the technique being used by his Grandfather during World War II.
The story goes that when bombers went on their missions, the engineers used to race all sorts of contraptions up and down the runways for fun. With fuel rationed, they had to be very innovative in creating the most economical way to run these engines.
They noticed that on a cool misty morning an engine produced far more power/speed, so they set about creating a that "misty morning" scenario permanently.
It was achieved simply by hanging a jam pot on the engine air intake with a piece of wire. The jam pot was filled with water & a rag was stuffed into it. The rag was draped over the air intake trumpet and the engine breathed in damp air.
The modern device does not require machining or modification to fit to a petrol or diesel engine and a device could sell at £100 per unit or less for most cars. It supposedly works particularly effectively on large capacity engines.
Benton is now looking for investment to get the device into production.
"Having spent 4 years+ and a considerable amount of money on this project, we now require an additional £100,000 investment to bring the device to production readiness. The investor could be an Individual, Group of individuals, Company, or possibly a Main Dealer of 4x4 vehicles or Privately owned 4X4 dealer, as we also require 2 large vehicles for device testing, such as Land Rovers or big other 4x4’s
.
For a vehicle dealer, an investment of £50K + two used vehicles could be recouped very quickly considering the level of TV, Radio, Trade and regional press coverage we are likely to achieve. The vehicles would be covered (floor to roof) in the dealers advertising, spreading their company name everywhere, they could easily achieve considerably more than £50k worth of advertising and promotion."
