There's actually some quite interesting news at the bottom of today's Arash press release. There's a new AF8 Cassini, with the 7.0-litre V8 from the old Corvette Z06, a six-speed manual and a 1,200kg kerbweight. Yes, the styling is hardly beautiful, but there's carbon in its construction and a 200mph top speed. If modern sports cars are too tame for you...
Four motors, one engine, 2,000hp...
Arash doesn't really want to tell you about that though. Oh no. It wants to tell you about the AF10, its "naughty" new supercar that is, in Arash's own words, "really, really, really, REALLY fast." It combines a supercharged 900hp 6.2-litre V8 (also from an old Corvette, this time the ZR1) with four electric motors, each of those with their own two-speed gearbox. Total power output is 2,109hp, or so Arash claims.
The electric motors are built by Compact Dynamics Germany, the lithium-ion battery from Kreisel. There's onboard charging available and a universal charging system but no word yet on charging times. Speaking of times though, the AF10 is said to be capable of 0-100mph in less than five seconds on just the electric power alone. The benefits of instant torque and four-wheel drive! With the assistance of the V8, Arash claims that it can hit 124mph in less than eight seconds. Carbon construction and its weight advantages will help these acceleration figures, though Arash doesn't have a kerb weight yet.
And the AF8 Cassini for those less power crazed
Oh yes, and this is the racing car. Or so it seems. A road car will be made available but the "electric bolt livery" here marks out the motorsport version and apparently the inside is fully carbon and stripped out too. The wheels are magnesium for full weight saving benefit and there's a full range of safety kit fitted. One for closer inspection at Geneva!
It also costs a million pounds. Or £1.1 million, to be precise. The motorsport version seen here and described above is another £100,000 with Arash overalls too (!). Or for just £350,000, Arash will sell you a V8 AF10 without the hybrid 'Warp Drive' technology. More details to follow from the Swiss show floor next week...
