Another luxury SUV, another daft name. Following
Bentayga
Urus
, here is the first Cullinan prototype, Rolls-Royce's attempt at creating the most opulent SUV available. The relevance of
Cullinan
? The largest gem quality diamond ever found apparently, discovered in 1905 at a mine in South Africa. Useful to know.
In case the ride height didn't give it away
Anyway, the car seen here is evidently derived from a Phantom but with a few key differences. The jacked up ride height is plain to see but look at the car in profile; the wheelbase is considerably shorter than a Phantom, with the hacked off doors to prove it. Rolls had previously issued its own 'official spy images' - see the pics below - and this car is very similar. Thank goodness the spoiler has gone.
As for the Cullinan's appearance beyond a Phantom mule we're none the wiser yet. The car is expected to be launched in 2017 so a big - literally - show debut is guaranteed nearer the time. Could it be the first Rolls-Royce hybrid too? Perish the thought...
