Berlin businessman Joerg Winterberg is suing Ferrari because he said his £111,000 Ferrari Challenge Stradale was too slow. Specifically, he accused the Modena company with overstating the top speed of the car as 186mph, when he only managed to get 175mph out of it.
He said: "I could have bought a Porsche for far less and still had the same performance. I want my money back. The prospectus promised the car could reach 186 mph, but in reality it can only go up to 175 mph."
Ferrari reckoned there was nothing wrong with the car and has refused to give Winterburg his money back. He is now taking the company to court after an independent expert also found the sports car could not reach the advertised top speed.
He's lucky though -- at least he has the autobahns in Germany to check these things out. We have to take them on trust...
