BMW 6-Series: no more speed limits
We hear that the 155mph "gentleman's agreement" that exists among several German manufacturers to limit the top speed of their high-performance models to 155mph may be about to collapse.
In the UK, it's a bit academic, but it is significant in Germany: a significant proportion of the autobahn network remains unrestricted -- and Audi, BMW and Mercedes drivers among others are apparently becoming a little too familiar with less motors rocketing past them at speeds north of 155mph.
The rumour has it that Audi, BMW and Lexus are all pondering abandoning the limit -- on some models at least.
Meanwhile, Porsche of course doesn't believe in it, while it's been common knowledge that you can have the limit removed by third party tweakers or, in the case of AMG-made cars, ask the company itself to strip out the limit.
