Prost and Mansell were at it again. Last weekend, former F1 world champions Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost raced against each other for the first time in over 10 years at the Norisring in Germany. Their times were very close but Prost won.
They were among six drivers invited to participate in the Legends Shoot-Out, driving DTM (German Touring Car Championship) versions of the Audi A4, Audi TTR, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Opel Vectra GTS. The others were Emerson Fittipaldi, Jody Scheckter and motorcycle champions Johnny Cecotto and Mick Doohan.
The winner was the driver who posted the fastest times overall from three five-lap stints -- they got to try all the cars. Prost set the best time in his Audi TTR, and was in the top three with the Mercedes and the Opel. The winner overall, he was 2.5 seconds ahead of Mansell, just 0.2 seconds ahead of Cecotto.
It was Mansell's first competitive drive since 1998. He said it was "a steep learning curve in terms of driving these DTM cars for the first time and also on a circuit totally new to me but it was great fun."
The event was dedicated to charity and raised over £350,000.
