Are you glad you don't drive in Malaysia? You should be.
Not that we have anything against the people or the country in general -- far from it. However, the Government there has reportedly just launched a Web site where the public can take pictures of traffic offences and post them on the Internet. This then results in the offenders being issued with summonses.
The Government reckoned the site could help curb the number of driving offences. Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said the site would feature a "Hall Of Shame / Hall Of Merit" section which not only show errant road users caught in the act but also those with good road safety practices.
He said offenders might not only be motorists and motorcyclists but also pedestrians. The site will be monitored by the Road Transport Department and police to enable them to take action against the offender.
Scary. Even scarier is the idea that it might be picked up here...
