JK and 1973 vintage 911 RS
Jamiroquai front man and petrolhead Jay Kay has just bought a 1973 911 RS from Bicester-based Porsche specialist Autofarm, which specialises in early 911s and especially the 73 RS.
His current collection includes Ferraris, Maseratis and Lamborghinis -- and many more -- but no Porsches until now. He said it was important that his first was an icon of the range and, since he drives, not stores, his cars, he chose the RS for its usability on a daily basis.
The car is an RS Touring (M472) version one of only 94 RHD cars delivered into the UK. The 2.7-litre engine produces some 210bhp with a top speed of 150 mph and a 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. It is a first series car -- one of the first 500 of the 1,580 that were built -- and is 'numbers matching'.
Autofarm's business development manager Andrew Watson said: "We are delighted that we have been able to provide Jay Kay with the first Porsche of his collection, he had a strong idea of what he was after and fortunately we were able to meet his requirements. This was a lovely example of a 73 RST and we are very happy that it’s gone to a good home."
