Next month, a group of Touring Cars will thunder through the streets of Milton Keynes, the town renowned for its roundabouts and concrete cows. They'll stage a high-speed city centre demonstration on the evening of Thursday 15 September along Avebury Boulevard, from 7.00pm.
For over an hour, drivers will demonstrate their cars before tackling a roundabout and returning on the opposite carriageway between MK's Xscape leisure complex and thecentre:mk’s food centre.
Spectator viewing for the evening street race is free and the drivers will be available to give autographs outside Xscape. All nine BTCC teams have pledged to field a car. Also running will be a car from the BTCC’s supporting championships, from BMW, Porsche, Renault and Seat.
Cars from the BTCC and the support series will also be on display in Middleton Hall at thecentre:mk throughout the day from 9am onwards. Drivers will meet shoppers for autographs and photographs, and tickets for the next BTCC race will also be on sale.
The wheeze is designed to publicise the season's penultimate BTCC race meeting on 17-18 September at the nearby Silverstone circuit.
Should wake up the cows anyway...
