If you're into V8s and fancy one on your desktop, look no further.
Replica Engines makes quarter-sized, fully operational internal combustion motors. "All of our engines are four cycle, spark ignition and are equipped with all of the functional components of their full size counterpart such as the oil pump, water pump, fuel pump, etc.", said the company.
The range is impressive. All hand-built, the devices are replicas of V8s including a 1940 Model 97 Offenhauser, a 1913 Gnome Monosoupape Rotary aviation engine -- the motor spins while the crankshaft stays stationary -- and the 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora IRL V8, with a 90 degree V, 32 valves, dual overhead cams, pressure lubricated, dry sump, water cooled, dual distributor spark ignition.
There are videos of the machines running here.
