The Chesil Motor Company, manufacturer of the Chesil Speedster -- a replica of the iconic Porsche -- is about to launch the Chesil RS60, this one a replica of the famous Porsche RS60 Spyder of the early 1960s.

The fibreglass bodied car has a spaceframe chassis, a flat four air-cooled engine developing 180bhp and a five-speed Porsche gearbox. Remaining faithful to the original specification of Ferdinand Porsche's design, the Chesil RS60 promises to be an exciting entry into the specialist sports car market.

The two-seat, mid engined, rear wheel drive, lightweight sports car aims "to delight you with its style, agility and performance. If you are looking for a performance car that will set you apart from everyone else and reward you in equal measure the Chesil RS60 is the car you have been waiting for", says Chesil.

The press launch on 20 September will be followed by a test drive session for potential clients.

It's the company's first new model since the acquisition in September 2004 of the firm by the current owners.
