The chief executive of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service charity, Martin Eede, which airlifted Richard Hammond to hospital following his crash at Elvington, has thanked PHers for their generosity.

Eede said: "Can I say a massive 'thank you' to the Pistonheads readers who set up and have then contributed to the website for Richard Hammond? Thanks to your generosity Yorkshire Air Ambulance can fly another 100 missions similar to this one.

"Like yours, our thoughts and prayers are with Richard and his family."
