Make sure the yellow lines don't get you
One ruined set of tyres and a parking ticket were the reward for one motorist who parked in Salford, Manchester.
When driver Nasser Khan parked his Toyota MR2, there was a gap in the yellow line. On his return, a yellow line had been painted under his car -- and the heat from the machine used to dry the paint had semi-melted his tyres.
To add insult to injury, traffic wardens had given him a ticket for parking on a yellow line.
Khan said: "I couldn't believe they painted the line underneath my vehicle. Luckily I had a note on my windscreen from the guys in the nearby office which explained what had happened, otherwise I would have driven off unaware."
He was told by a local garage that his tyres were unroadworthy and would have to be replaced, at a cost of £550. We hear that Salford City Council has since cancelled the ticket, although Khan is suing for damages to his car, which was undertaken by a private contractor.
