The Jaguar S-Type's life is to end by 2008, and none too soon for those critics who panned the saloon for being too backward-looking.
The replacement, to be known as the XF, will be a step beyond the XK. At least, that's one interpretation of the words of Jaguar boss Bibiana Boerio, who said: "We are now moving on to the next stage of Jaguar’s exciting new design era – and if you like the new XK, just wait until you see the new Jaguar XF."
The XF sports saloon will make its public debut next autumn, and be positioned in the luxury mid-size segment, as was the S-Type. Designed and developed at Jaguar’s product development centre at Whitley in Coventry, it'll be built at Jaguar’s Castle Bromwich plant.
Customers are likely to see their first XFs in spring 2008.
