Clio Renaultsport 197 F1 Team
Renault unveiled the new Clio Renaultsport 197 F1 Team today, to coincide with the launch in Amsterdam of the F1 team's new R27 car for 2007.
The limited edition Clio derivative with the mouthful of a name offers a unique look and improved dynamics over the standard model on which it's based, plus added equipment drawn, said Renault, "from the best of competition vehicles".
Renault F1 cars are yellow this year so this Clio is also yellow, along with red brake callipers, anthracite alloy wheels and Renault F1 stickers. It's all designed, said the French car company, to make the car identifiable with its larger sibling, the Mégane Renaultsport 230 F1 Team R26.
The interior features Recaro seats and a numbered plaque, while the 197 F1's ride height is lower than the Clio Renaultsport 197. The chassis also boasts stiffer springs and dampers. It is, according to Renault, the first Renaultsport Clio to get the ‘Cup’ chassis, which will become an option on the Clio Renaultsport 197 towards the end of the year.
Ordering for the car will open in April and there will be 500 examples destined for the UK. Later on in the year, customers will be able to purchase the Cup chassis as an option for the standard Clio Renaultsport 197. Renault said it would release more details at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
