Aston Martin DB9 promised
Fractional car ownership company Parada Cars has ceased trading.
The company, which launched only last May, stopped at the end of 2006 because, said a company spokesman who would identify himself only as "Simon", said that "there were too many ifs, buts and maybes". In other words, insufficient members signed up and paid their money.
Members who did pay their membership fees of £4,000 upwards would appear to be out of pocket.
"Simon" said that members who had paid had "been taken care of". When asked whether this meant that they would get their money back, he only said that they had "been kept informed". He refused either to confirm or deny whether they would be compensated. He said "they know my name and address".
However, one member said: "They are not taking any calls, returning emails nor letters, and the website is down."
The Oxfordshire-based company originally described itself as "the only fractional ownership company of its kind in England outside the M25". It claimed to be unique in its formula of offering supercars in return for points through a club membership because it neither charged for delivery and collection nor imposed a mileage restriction.
