One in five of us use our cars as a mobile lavatory, according to a survey by online insurance broker’s motorinsurance.co.uk.
40 per cent of drivers polled thought their driving deteriorated when faced with an urgent call of nature, although a place for relief seems hard to find: virtually half said there weren’t enough roadside facilities available. Even if there were, 32 per cent still said they’d prefer the al fresco charms and road roar soundtrack of the hard shoulder – the favoured outside peeing location.
Worryingly, only 14 per cent of those who’d admitted to taking a leak on the move said they’d had a suitable receptacle to, er, hand at the time.
