This is the BMW CS Concept that’ll make its debut at the Shanghai Auto show. It’s a four-seater in the mould of the Mercedes CLS, but it’s bigger – bigger than a current Seven series in fact at 200.8” long and 78” wide, but measuring only 53.5” high. Imagine it as a rival to the forthcoming Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera.
Although it’s only a concept for now, it does show BMW’s new styling direction as a steady evolution of Chris Bangle’s original ideas. Flame surfacing continues, but there’s more purpose and flow to some of the lines.
The concept runs on 21” wheels, and some reports say it uses the underpinnings from the next Seven series with a 6.0 litre V12 based on the current M5’s V10.
