Next RS6 testing in Germany
These are the latest pictures of what is generally regarded as being the next Audi RS6.
As you can see, the M5 rival is now being allowed out with hardly any disguise over its ‘RS4 style’ enhancements. The usual bulging wheel arches are present, along with enlarged air intakes and large wheels.
Under the bonnet – if rumour is correct, sits a twin-turbo version of the 5.2 litre V10 powerplant already found in the S6 model (as well as the S8, and of course in closely related form, the Lamborghini Gallardo).

Although its power output is unknown, it seems likely that a blown version of the S6 lump (that produces 429bhp) could easily match the current M5’s 500bhp. Considering how Audi raised the class bar with the RS4, we’d guess the new RS6 will knock out around 550bhp.
The advent of the RS6 probably spells the end for its junior brother. Audi has stated that only one ‘RS’ model will be on sale at any one time, so the RS4 will probably meet its end in 2008. In doing so it looks set to become one of the most revered and collectable of all Audis.
