Think about car modifications for one second and you'd probably compile an inventory that reads like a power obsessed street-racer. But hang on, isn't there more to building a fast car than simply loading up more bhp with the help of a turbocharger or two? You're damn right there is, which is why some very clever people in Japan have come up with The Time Attack Series, designed to test a car's blend of power, speed and agility.
Here's what the Time Attack website says:
“The Time Attack Series is a circuit based calendar of events whereby competitors drive hard against the clock to set the quickest lap time around a circuit. Not only do they have the task of doing this but they will be one of 55 cars and drivers, specifically invited with pedigree to fight it out alongside the industries finest, even including some belonging to private individuals.”
Sounds like quite a challenge, and the good news is that you can now have a go - the series has just moved to Blighty. Here are the results from the 3rd stage at Knockhill.
3rd: Jimmy McRae (yes, of WRC fame)
