200mph? No problem, sir...
Bentley is building a 600bhp version of the Continental GT, making it the most powerful production Bentley ever. With a top speed of 202mph it will also be the fastest Bentley, officially. The Continental GT Speed will cost £137,500 and will be available to order from August.
It is based on the facelifted version of the Continental GT, which also arrives in August, but will be visually differentiated with a dark-tinted chrome grille, wider exhausts and 20in multi-spoke alloys - try not to kerb them.
The '08 model GT's 552bhp turbocharged W12 engine has been tweaked to produce 600bhp and a whopping 553lb ft of torque. This should let the GT Speed hit 60mph in 4.3sec, compared to the '08 car's time of 4.6sec. Stopping won't be a problem either, especially with the optional carbon ceramic brakes.
With the help of modified anti-roll bars and a lower ride height, we also think this Bentley will be more dynamic to drive.
Bigger exhausts mean MORE NOISE
The greenies may be a bit happier now too, because both the '08 GT and GT Speed 'only' churn out 396g/km of carbon dioxide – down from 410g/km. Prices for the facelifted Continental GT will start from £120,500.
