The first retirement of the day came at Becketts when the Damax Ascari of Stephen Keating pulled off having lost all drive.
As the running order became clearer after the pitstops, it was Phiroze Bilimoria in the Team RPM Viper leading from Matt Owen in the Lamborghini with Adam Wilcox in the Ferrari.
However, sixth placed Tim Mullen in the CiM Ferrari was the fastest man on the track and making rapid progress through the field. The team had made a good pitstop and brother David had performed a great recovery drive after suffering a stop go penalty.
Wilcox and Mullen were quickly leading the pack. Mullen started to take huge chunks out of Wilcox’s lead, and by lap 72 the two Ferrari’s were nose to tail. One lap later, the red Ferrari of Mullen was through and surged on until the finish.
The Damax Ascari of Oliver Bryant and Phil Keen finished seventh.
