If there was ever a way to enthral school kids on a school trip to a museum, Toyota’s new tour-guide robot would be it.
The robot, christened ‘Tour Guide Robot’ (original bunch, Toyota), is set to guide numerous punters around the displays of Toyota Kaikan Exhibition Hall in Toyota City.
The robot has loads of quirky features like: jointed fingers for autograph signing, speech to talk with visitors, image recognition so it can identify visitors by their name tags and ‘autonomous motion’ so it can move without smacking into things.
It seems like a good idea to us – it’s likely to have shed loads more charisma than your standard tour guides…or your average Toyota come to think of it?
