Turns out that in London you'll pay the highest rate in the UK to get your motor fettled, with an average hourly rate of £89.78. The cheapest place to get a service, according to a survey carried out by Warranty Direct, is Fife where you'd pay an average rate of £55.40.
One London dealer charged a record £183.30 per hour but they remain anonymous- anyone have any ideas as to who they might be? At the other end of the scale a dealer in Cornwall charged just £24.68 per hour.
After researching almost 4,000 garages the survey found the ten highest priced counties were all in the South of England.
The Retail Motor Industry Federation added 'Franchise dealer rates are higher overall because of the extra costs that they incur in order to meet the standards expected' and we though it was just to pay for fancy showrooms.
