Another police force has stood up to claim that migrant drivers may be causing chaos on their roads.
This time it’s the turn of police in Dorset, following calls last week from Camridgeshire Police, who say the increasing numbers of foreign migrants could be fuelling the number of drink-driving cases and road accidents.
Cultural differences and difficulty in understanding road signs could be a key factor in the number of serious road accidents concerning migrant workers, or maybe they simply think they won't get prosecuted as most run foreign plates.
The issue was raised at a meeting of Dorset Police Authority when members were told the amount spent by police on interpreters had doubled to an incredible £200,000 in just two years.
Dorset Police is now setting up a driver awareness course for people coming in from Eastern Europe who may not know the rules of the road.
