Prius sneaks out unnoticed
While hybrid cars are being hailed as the future of motoring there is one group of people objecting - and that's the blind.
They say the engines are so quiet they can't hear the vehicles coming.
It's an issue that's being raised in the States by the National Federation of the Blind's Committee on Automotive and Pedestrian Safety.
They've just done a test with groups of people waiting to cross roads and car parks but they couldn't hear the vehicle coming.
Officials with the Baltimore-based Federation are quick to point out that they're not advocating a return to petrol powered cars.
They'd just like the fuel-efficient hybrids to make some noise.
