A top traffic policeman is facing prosecution for an alleged driving offence.
Meredydd Hughes, chief constable of South Yorkshire Police, was allegedly clocked by cameras in North Wales early on a Bank Holiday Monday in May.
He was on holiday at the time.
A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police confirmed he has received a notice of intended prosecution.
No summons has yet been received.
‘Chief Constable Meredydd Hughes has received a notice of intended prosecution in respect of an alleged driving offence in North Wales in the early morning of a Bank Holiday Monday in May while he was on holiday,’ said the spokeswoman.
Mr Hughes recently took over as lead of road policing at the Association of Chief Police Officers.
