Fancy having this etched into your arm?
I think it’s fair to say that although there are a great many similarities between us and our friends across the pond, things are done a bit differently in the USA.
This is perhaps best highlighted by our west coast friends, known for their open-minded spirit, and their approach to guerrilla ad campaigns.
Yes, we’re back at the SEMA show for more Vegas craziness, and this time we’ve come across the Dunlop stand and a giveaway promotion.
All you have to do to get your hands on four new tyres is have the manufacturer’s logo tattooed on your arm for life: simple, really.
Dunlop’s theme for this year’s show is “The Art of Performance”, and the tattoo campaign is, according to Dunlop’s nutty marketing manager, Janice Consolacion, a logical next step from its previous campaign where willing volunteers had tyre tread designs shaved into their hair.
With 1 in 8 American’s reported to wear at least one inked design, Consolacion reckons that “the tattooed become Dunlop ambassadors as they walk the show floor and eventually go out into their communities. They become a symbol of our brand's style and performance.”
She added “Without a doubt, Dunlop tattooers cut to the chase. They're different; they're all about driving and performance. They seek creative ways to express themselves, and they're not afraid to show it.”
Make of that what you will.
