Lexus is certainly taking its latest attempt to dominate the luxury end of the market very seriously indeed.
Having gained ground on Mercedes by producing exceptionally well-built and luxurious models while the German giant was experiencing a few quality wobbles, the Japanese marque is now focussing on stealing sales from historically sportier BMW.
In its first appearance at the SEMA show, the Toyota-owned brand took the opportunity to unveil its F-Sport performance accessory range.
Much like the M Sport developed kit that you can add to your Beemer, the F range is the work of the Toyota Racing Developments team.
It’s not just questionable bodykits and wheel upgrades either: amongst the comprehensive list of options available for the IS models are 380mm/350mm front and rear carbon ceramic brake discs, a fully stainless exhaust system and Bilstein shock absorbers.
Fans of more show over go are catered for too, with sparkly 19” rims, lowering kits and the excitingly-named Lexus Genuine Accessory Ground Effects Kit.
All of these options and more are available Stateside next year with a full Lexus warranty, so expect these add-ons to be in showrooms here very soon too.
If the options are as successful at raising the brand’s sporting profile as the luxury-biased models have been, then BMW better watch out.
