The RB320: a fitting tribute
It’s fair to say that for many, the last edition of the Subaru Impreza, the RB320, is seen as the zenith of that car’s achievements in production form at least.
The car was very fittingly created as a tribute to the 2001 World Rally Champion, Richard Burns, who lost his battle with cancer in 2005.
The combination of the car’s prowess and very special raison d’être meant that all 320 special editions sold out within weeks.
Amongst those lucky enough to get their hands on one was Richard’s father Alex, who bought car number 117 for the Richard Burns Collection, and used the car as when working with the Richard Burns Foundation.
Recently, car 001 was put up for sale and subsequently snapped up by the MD of Slipend Subaru of Luton, Paul Flitton.
As a supporter of the RB Foundation, Paul contacted Alex and agreed to exchange cars, so that car 001 would gain its rightful place in the Burns Collection.
Additionally, car 117 was then taken to this year’s Festival of Speed where many famous rally drivers signed the car which was then auctioned, delivering a profit of £10,000 which was donated to the Foundation.
