In emergency use as wheel brace
Trying to loosen a stubborn wheel nut can be frustrating, but can we recommend you don’t resort to the measures of one man in the US.
The 66-year-old had been repairing his Lincoln Continental for two weeks and managed to get all but one of the nuts off the car.
Now, most people may at this point take a time out to work out what to do.
Not this guy, he grabbed his 12-gauge shotgun and blasted the wheel from arm’s length, injuring himself badly in both legs.
The pensioner, from Southworth, 10 miles from Seattle, took the rather extreme action while working on his car on Saturday afternoon, Kitsap County Deputy Scott Wilson said.
'He's bound and determined to get that lug nut off,' Mr Wilson added.
After firing the shotgun the man was peppered in both legs with buckshot and debris, also injuring his chin, police said.
‘Nobody else was there and he wasn't intoxicated,’ Mr Wilson said.
The man was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with injuries that were described as severe but not life-threatening.
