Hyundai has used the Los Angeles Auto Show to unveil its new 300 bhp, rear-drive Concept Genesis Coupe.
The car is expected to go on sale in 2009 in the US and is currently being evaluated for possible sale in the UK.
Rather oddly, however, it looks rather similar to the current Hyundai Coupe, which has been around for a while.
Expect the production car to be little changed, although hopefully without the garish ‘Sonic Orange’ paint job, and to retain the rear-drive layout.
Hyundai is trying to attract hardcore driving enthusiasts with this car as well as boost its image.
Hyundai says the V6 will propel the car to 60 mph in less than six seconds, which is what you would expect from 300 bhp.
The production car should be one of the cheapest cars on the market with that sort of power.
The concept has a carbon fibre bonnet and 20” wheels.
