The Boxster is the one at the back
We are used to the likes of Ford and Vauxhall churning out special and limited editions of its cars to shift a few more, but is this catching on at Porsche?
The German firm has only just unveiled the black Cayman S Design Edition 1, limited to 777 vehicles, and now we have this the Boxster RS 60 Spyder.
The RS 60 is said to echo the Porsche Type 718 RS 60 Spyder of the Sixties with its ‘sporting character and design purism’ but a cynic might say the only thing it echoes is a normal Boxster.
There is a unique front spoiler and 19-inch diameter Porsche SportDesign alloy wheels, which have been moved outwards with spacer plates.
The good news is there is a bit more power, a modified sports exhaust system combined with dual tailpipes increasing output to 303 bhp.
The car has ‘GT Silver’ metallic paintwork and contrasting leather in Carrera Red.
Door strips say ‘RS 60 Spyder’ and there are various different coloured bits inside the cabin to make it feel more special.
There will be a limited run of 1,960 examples, each with a plaque on the glove box.
The RS 60 Spyder will be priced from £45,400 including VAT, and deliveries in the UK and Ireland begin from March 2008.
