coming to a motorway fast lane near you
Cavalier, Vectra. What do these words conjure up for you?
Well whatever it is, there is a new one that could soon have the same meaning – Insignia.
Yes, Vauxhall has come up with a new name for its mid-size model and, well, I’ll let you make your own mind up on that one.
Vauxhall says Insignia ‘marks the dawn of a fresh era for the Griffin-badged marque’ and will have the ‘same kind of upmarket feel as some of its more expensive rivals’.
Alain Visser, of General Motors Europe, explained the new badge: ‘Dynamic performance is one of the Vauxhall brand’s core values.
‘In the new Insignia, this defining characteristic is realised by sophisticated powertrain technology, active safety and the interface between driver and car.
‘The Insignia’s level of comfort and environmental friendliness is unrivalled even among considerably more expensive competitors.’
The good news is the Insignia might look something like the well-received GTC concept car.
‘A closer look at our groundbreaking GTC concept car gives a good idea of how exciting Vauxhall’s new design language will be,’ added Mr Visser.
