Fans of slightly flaky French supercars rejoice – there could be a new Renault Alpine on the way.
This time the Alpine is going after the likes of Nissan’s 350Z, as well as tempting buyers out of their MX-5’s.
According to Auto Express a new Alpine is coming and will be coming out in 2010.
The modern car will look to the past for inspiration, and although Alpine may be used to signify hot models in the same way as Honda’s Type-R, it will be first seen on a stand-alone car.
Work is said to be underway on the car and it is understood development work is taking place at the Nürburgring, using a disguised Megane-based mule.
Power is rumoured to be coming from a small turbocharged engine, possibly mid-mounted.
