Details of next year’s MINI Challenge have been released and BMW is offering the prize of an official test with its three-time World Touring Car Championship-winning team as a prize.
Those people with a spare £40,000 kicking about can get themselves a new 210bhp MINI John Cooper Works Challenge car , beat the other 24 people on the grid and hopefully get a Touring Car drive – it’s as easy as that.
The MINI Challenge will be held at some of the UK’s biggest international race meetings including A1GP, DTM and the WTCC in a sixteen-race championship.
The winner gets an official test in BMW’s all-conquering 320si WTCC touring car, overseen by the world’s most successful touring car driver, BMW Team UK driver, Andy Priaulx.
The cars do 0-60 in 6.1seconds and 149mph, and MINI Challenge competitors will also tackle the Nurburgring’s infamous Nordschleife when the grids of both the UK and German MINI Challenges come together for the circuit’s May 24Hr endurance race weekend.
So if you are bored with your day job, have plenty of time on your hands, want to be a Touring Car driver and have a few grand to spare now’s your chance.
The cost of entry for the 2008 MINI Challenge will be £8950 + VAT, and the MINI Challenge car is priced at €41930 + VAT.
