Lotus is apparently the latest car maker to be cashing in on emerging markets, with reports that it is to expand to India.
Recently Aston Martin announced it would be heading to China to cash in on the booming economy.
Meanwhile it looks like an Indian company may be set to snap up British carmakers Land Rover and Jaguar.
India, like China, has a rapidly growing economy and it seems the time is right to tempt young, affluent Indians into small, light two-seater sports cars.
There are few details of the plans but according to reports Lotus is currently searching for a dealer network.
The Elise is likely to be the first model on the market in India, followed by the Exige if there is enough interest.
